I am often asked on tips to spark creativity or how to move past creative blocks. Having this be a life struggle, I have begun to list my tips/hacks. Some, I found myself and others have been passed on from a variety of inspirational sources.
The first tip is pretty simple. Whenever I find myself feeling overwhelmed or worrying about an upcoming project or problem, I just try to show up (wherever that may be) and start. Earlier this week I realized I was feeling the heat from a few small projects that were beginning to pile up on me. I decided to pencil out an hour and divide that hour in to two half-hour slices of time. The first half to start sketches and ideas for one logo project and another to do the same for a different logo project. I actually ended up working an additional hour overtime since the ideas began to flow. I know I am stating the obvious here but it is really that simple. Just start your project, your paper, your conversation, your day, your dance, whatever.
As the quote goes: When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.
